The Story Behind Horizon Lakes

It all started ten years ago around a campfire at the annual Oshkosh EAA fly-in.  A number of pilots and friends discussing their dream of living in a community surrounded by people who shared a similar passion for aviation with one “minor requirement”!  That “minor requirement” was that each of their homes would have a backyard with a taxiway leading to a first class airport. Today the dream has come true for Jackie, Cody, and Mike along with a growing list of others that are calling Horizon Lakes Airpark home.  The first phase of the development is complete and homes are going up!

The development consists of a 118 acre parcel surrounding a new 4000’ X 75’ asphalt runway.  Horizon Lakes Airpark is located in one of southeast Michigan's most desirable area, surrounded by countless lakes, parks, golf courses, ski resorts, and shopping centers.  Less than a quarter mile walk takes you to the quaint village of Linden which is known for its friendly inviting atmosphere.  The village has had great success in attracting several restaurants, antique stores, and shopping centers over the past several years.  The southwest side of Horizon Lakes Airpark boarders a 135 acre nature park (Linden County Park).  The park consists of large shade trees with walking trails, open fields for various activities, and a large beach providing access to one of the local all sports lakes (Byram Lake).
